Goodbye Gram
While Hurricane Gustav prep day and storm day were the traditional hurricane party style, the days following were quite different. My Gram's retirement home issued a mandatory evacuation on Wednesday due to failing generators. We transported her to my mother's house (running box fans on generators) but it was too uncomfortable for an elderly person to endure. A Friday phone conversation with Uncle Richard resulted in a decision to move Gram (hopefully temporarily) to his house in MD on Sunday. Plans were made for he and my Aunt Beth to fly to New Orleans and I would meet them there with Gram so she could fly back with the two of them. We also decided not to tell her until 30 minutes before departing, hoping it would keep her anxiety level low. I am hoping to see her soon, after the threat of Hurricane Ike has passed and whatever else is lined up behind him (haven't seen a weather forecast in a week). Family photos at home before leaving and at the NOLA airport...

Crises always seem to bring families together. I can see the resemblance between you and your grandmother.
Aquarius - it was a tough day. thanks for the sweet comment. I actually never saw similarities in any of us until these photos...uncle is my dad's brother...gram is my dad's mother (my dad is deceased so it was weird having her at my mom's as they divorced when i was five) my mom is a super-trooper! my step-dad too..........
