Kickball 2006

So, cleaning is a good thing...

Yesterday while "cleaning" for the five or so minutes I did, I stumbled across a ton of picture CDs. In the mix of prize finds was the kickball CD from 2006! I thought it was last year's but when looking at the length of mine and Erik's hair, this must be 2006!

Sharing now since I did not blog then...(I can't wait for this year! Last Sunday in July and first Sunday in August...mark you calendars.)

Me with Lauren H!

Erik, we look 10 years younger!

Raaaaandal, hopefully you are reading and maybe posting a comment? Thanks for the countless "thought of the day" on the chalkboard at red star

Me with my tie, thanks again Mike!

New Place Update...

I have a new place! Officially now...lease signed, deposit paid and here are some pics...

Living Room and Kitchen

French Doors to Kickass Front Porch

Office or Master Bedroom, I can't decide

Porch

I added a pic of neighborhood grocery

There is still a ton to do to the place. We will move in July! Oh, and Sheridan wanted to see it to so she is in all of the pictures. Okay so maybe I am a tad paranoid, but I removed the photo of the outside just to be safe. I will email to those of you I know if you want to see it. It is damn cute though.

Cash for Cora

My neighbor and friend, Cora, from across the street is donating one of her kidneys in late May. She is having a garage sale today to raise the money for her travel expenses and to help cover for the six weeks she will be out of work. Chris and I stopped by. It is today and tomorrow on Lakeland (across the street from me). If you need directions, let me know...

I scored this new coffee table...

I also got a nice knit set which included gloves, scarf and hat! Thinking hard about going back for the SonofhIbachi with manual.

Happy Birthday Happy Holly at Happy's

Correcting Jud's Technical Problems...

Consider the assistant position filled!

I had to add my touch to it, sorry Jud...

Dinner with Pipper

Pip called yesterday afternoon to announce his return to town and ask if Chris and I could join him for dinner. Chris was working, so I went solo. We decided to meet at Capital City Grill...yummy! There were tons of people out last night around downtown. We dined outside because it was so nice out. Was Pip hitting on the waitress? Hmm... A couple of salads and a couple of beers later we decide to walk over to Red Star to meet Collin and Lars. Chit chat between Pipper and Collin about Wal-Mart and their dominance in the marketplace about put me to sleep so I decided to call it an early night. I am so angry at myself this morning because I failed to remember my favorite guitar player, Cam Pyle, was actually playing downtown at The Roux House last night...dang! I can't believe I forgot that. It only happens once a month and is always such a good time. Pipper was looking for something fun to do too. Oh well, there is always next time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAPPY HOLLY! Does your mom still have that picture and if so is there maybe a copy floating around that isn't 18 x 20? I would loved to have been able to scan that in as photo du jour...lol. Love Ya, xoxoxoxo

Ok soo....

I have not been an Event Planner since like 2005 people! How come none of you can remember this tid bit? Ha! Every function I somehow get put in charge of planning. This is either because I once was an event planner or because I go out enough to make people believe I know EVERYTHING to do on ANY given night and EVERYWHERE "cool" to go. Tomorrow is Holly Bof's birthday and I am now making ALL of our party plans. Open for suggestions. Holly says "But you know BR"...lol...what the heck? Bof, you live here just like me!!! Here are points of discussion for tomorrow's plans:
1. It is going to storm tomorrow, so I am officially cancelling Live After Five (I am now on the Downtown Merchants' Event Planning Committee).
2. There are Friday Happy Hours everywhere. Some of my favorites:
A. Chelseas
B. Chimes
C. Cadilac Cafe' (kidding, just wanted another "C")
D. Zee Zee's
3. I am sure all roads lead to downtown after Happy Hour. There are just too many options to please any taste all within walking distance. Live music, Martinis, Wine, Frat Boys, Dancing, etc. whatever floats your boat.
4. If dinner needs to be plugged in somewhere, that needs to occur between HH and DTown.
Note: Dinner could be eaten at HH location if we choose option A, B or D.
5. Fun will be had by all no matter what I plan.
6. Photos will be evidence of Point #5.

Amendment to points: We must make plans soon, I have several people to coordinate on this project!!!

New Car Fever

I told my friend Sheridan about this car I saw on the road that I thought was so damn cute. I could tell it was a VW, but had never seen this model. Then about a week later, I saw another one and could only make out the letter "E" on the back. On Monday, while Chris was off, we saw two! One was parked in a parking lot near us. We walked up to it, walked around it (top was down), walked around it and it is so stinkin' cute! Now, Natalie is car shopping, Holly Bof is car shopping, Kristen got a new car recently, and my check engine light is on. So this must mean I need a new car. Right? Taking donations here.

I will drive the Toyota for at least two more years, but can't you all see me in this car???

Damn

My computer is such a POS. This, mind everyone, is the brand new one that IT guy, Will just ordered for me about a month back. Apparently my NEW laptop does not have a fan cooling off its inside! It is making the entire thing hot as hell. Having to rest my hands on it to type is making me hot. I have emailed IT and they might get over here today to look at it. And my outlook is shit too! I thought we were having server problems, but it turns out Dan was just telling me that to shut me up! It is always my computer and my IT problems!

I mean, Really....WTF?

So the Real Housewives of NYC is more insane than the OC! That woman, Alex and her crazy co-dependant husband, Pierre, are f***ing CRAZY! Please anyone out there who watched last night's episode please relate with me. Alex and Simon, who are convinced they must be French and are constantly discussing their social climbing and current status in "the scene" went to a "girls only" dinner party. Alex was invited and asked if Simon could go with. By the end of the episode, I kind of felt sorry for him because that crazy lady, Ramona, was so freakin' mean to him. Oh, it was an entertaining episode. Apparently, next week is the season finale already?!? What the heck, that was super fast!

Also, Alex and Simon are very in to the fashion scene. Simon enjoys shopping with Alex and coorddinating outfits for her. Please notice Simon's cool shirt in the posted pic!!!

Poor Jen

Oh my goodness, I have had a crazy day. Please remind me of how busy I have been the next time I mention taking a day off. Catch-up is no fun. I have had tons of emails and phone calls to return in addition to a bi-monthly manager meeting we have with our store managers.

On top of that I am so hungry I am about to eat my fingers. We were one lunch short today during our meeting (meeting is scheduled 12-2 and is a "working lunch"). Since you CAN'T take away a man's food and all of the girls seem pretty in to their twice monthly free lunch on Arkel, I decided to volunteer on going without. Geez I am starving! Poor Jen.

Would blog more, but way tooooooo busy today.

Sunday Funday

Sunday in the Park brought a lot of people downtown. The weather was pretty , a little on the warm side, but beautiful. We had 1 chair and three ice chests, about three cases of beer and one bottle of Jager, with an offer for another bottle of Jager from Matt W. (who was working and apparently was trying to unload the stuff he NEVER sells. They don't do shots of Jager in the Manship Theatre at show intermissions?). Twas fun. When the show ended about 3, we walked over to Schlitz & Giggles (now open noon to midnight on Sunday's) where some dined and some drank. I enjoyed a nice Miller High Life Light (didn't even know that was a beer!!!)

On we went to Highland Road park (thanks Jacques for the ride!) short pit stop to let his dog out and take something out of the freezer. At the park, there was grilling, drinking, slip and slide, football (mud football), kickball and frisbee. On to Mellow Mushroom to watch LSU women play (thanks Mike H for the ride to Mellow). Quick stop at Jen M's apt to drop her off and see her "Pucker" (Pug and Cocker mix) cute dog! LSU women stank it up big time. Time for Chris to get off so he picked me up from Mellow Mushroom and we headed back home after making the decision not to drive out to see Cam play at Southpaws. I wanted to go but it would have been bad news. Cousin Will went and sent a text message to me that Cam called me a s@*&?h (fill in whatever you want here) for not going to see him play. Oh well! I know I am the entertainment with my singing and dancing and constant desire to control his playlist, but I am sure they managed just fine without me.

I'm with the DJ

I am pulling a Natalie! Blogging after getting home from night out...please excuse if none of this makes sense. Today and tonight were so much fun. Picnic fun! I will post pics from the picnic separate. We then went to Tsunami for drinks on the terrace. Thank you Willis for comping EVERYTHING...you rock! My parents were with us at Tsunami and I knew my dad was dying to go to the LSU spring game and baseball game vs Alabama after but they invited all of us over for A glass of wine anyway. Kristen says "lets go!" "for ONE glass". 4 1/2 hours later we leave my parent's house and Kristen is wasted yet we have ton of people to meet up with! She was even speaking Crapanese (insiders only here). Red Star was the destination. Friends mets us. She crapped (insiders only here) on us. Remainders walked to Roux House to hear live music, that was quite fun. Natalie saw LOTS of old college friends and I saw one elementary school boy (who we all had a crush on and is way not hot now). In trying to get the band to play Jesse's Girl, we made friends with the sound tech. I could listen from the earphones he gave me but could not talk to the band? Wtf? I wanted them to play Jesse's Girl...dang! He (singer) just couldn't hear me I think. Fast forward fifteen minutes and a brief car ride in top down coldness, we end up in the shit box (casino). I mean really, where do these people come from? Other than us normal six (minus pony boy a.k.a. America's Next Top Model who was with us)? I was given $50 by Chis to gamble which I turned into $100 fast, Natalie sipped Coca-Colas and Chris hot chocolate (marshmellows next time please). Pony Boy no telling. Where the heck was Collin and Cousin Will had my pink hat on! There was a woman asleep leaning on a slot machine, some fella sitting next to me with these really "fast" white leather loafers, a Marine pit boss who was offended when I said Army and grunted at me, the Chris Serio fan club who chanted his name at the blackjack table and did I mention cousin Will was wearing my pink hat??? Thanks to pony for taking Nat Rat home....I was starting to think if we didn't get out of there I was just going to roll down the levee for tomorrow morning's concert...white pants and all!

PS - Please notice I am holding grandma sweater in case I get cold, grandma purse is strapped tightly across and yet I have a cool bar wristband and black stamp which will inevitably end up on my cheek!

PSS - Chris cooked a feast when we got home for himself and cousin Will.

PSSS - T minus 22 minutes until concert and is a 15 minute walk and this black stamp will not come off my hand!!

Damn!

I sure do wish I had my camera out last night...darn! Lots of photo-ops. I think Chris was on a mission to get drunk because he never has a weekend off. After work he met up with us and kept trying to make me do car bombs! yuk! Food/ Drink Rule # 26 = Jennifer doesn't mix cream or milk with liquor...barf. Chris drank all of our shots. Ran in to Chelsea at Red Star. Red Star was having Glam-O-Rama. I did not get the memo it was a costume party. My friend, Jeff, dressed as Spiderman asked me where my costume was. Ok, so back to Chelsea. She is my soul sister who shares the same love for MJ. She requested that the DJ play Thriller. He did. Enough said.

I Thriller Danced in Red Star, never done it there before!!!
Oh, I almost forgot...me and Lunchbox did a stoplight shot, this cannot become a regular thing.

My weekend plans...

Well I just don't know where to start! Since I worked later than I thought (I thought I would skate out about 3...it was a no go because someone who works for us is an IDIOT) and it rained, I did not make it to Live After Five. Is there a Live After Seven somewhere? I just got home and rain has passed. Damn! I guess I will clean up a little since I have GUESTS coming tomorrow. Yep, stop the presses...little sis is coming home tomorrow AND bringing the new beau, J (I am the only one in the family who hasn't met him - I know Kristen, I need to come to NOLA!!!! Geez). After cleaning, I may go have a beer with Holly Bof. We shall see.

In the morning I will meet Kristen for a cup of Joe at the neighborhood grocery and chat for a bit before with hit the road. Tomorrow is my step-dad's family's annual picnic! This is no boring family reunion. We actually have fun at these little gatherings. His family has a great history and it is fun to hang out amongst all of the nostalgia that is Mr. Rick Supple's family (step-dad). Tanya, I know you read this and NEVER comment...sooooo see you tomorrow! The picnic is a Crawfish Boil/ BBQ and of course cocktails! It starts at noon about an hour from where I live so most of the afternoon will be spent that way. After, Kristen mentioned she would like to take J to Tsunami's terrace for cocktails to watch the sunset. Let see...where will we end up? Red Star perhaps? No, I am pretty sure. So all are welcome to meet up with us.

Sunday is the return of Sunday's in the Park! Those were so much fun last year. I am a little uneasy about the band playing this week...draws the "Tweeny" crowd. If that is in any way a let down, there is a long list of back-up options (the usual Sunday Funday places).

I also took Monday off! Yippy!!!

Go Julie!

My friend, Julie, started this business a while back and is featured in this month's 225 magazine here (sorry for those outside of BR who read this and have no idea what I am talking about!). I have had a link to her site on my blog for a while. Check it out if you haven't yet. Love you Julie!!!

YUK

I walk in the door from work tonight, late...about 8:00 and Chris calls to tell me he will be coming home for dinner and that he isn't feeling well (headache). I look to see if there is any headache medicine and there isn't. Neither of us get them often. I walk quickly to the store in the neighborhood and pray they are still open. Buy three sample packs of advil and three bananas so that I can get my total to $3 in order to use my debit card (I never have cash) and hurry home. Chris arrives and heads straight to the couch. Standing in the kitchen preparing his dinner, I feel something on the back of my neck (hair is up in a bun so neck is fully exposed). I brush the back of my neck with the back of my hand and freak when I feel some sort of bug on me! I fling it out of sight but know there was something there. I tell Chris about it and that I cannot find what was just on me. I shake like a crazy woman making sure it is not still on me then go back to making his dinner. Out of the corner of my eye I see a caterpillar ON the kitchen counter!!! This must have been what was on me and I was too afraid to touch it. I had to go get Chris up to remove (not kill) the caterpillar and return to his resting position so I could finish his dinner. It must have fallen out of a tree on me when I was walking home from the store...soooo yuk! I must go shower now because I feel like they are all over me. Sorry there is no pic, I can't stand to even look for one to post with this.

Here we go again

I am taking my car to the shop again!!! My check engine light came on Monday so I scheduled a Tune-up. Keep your fingers crossed that is all it needs, please!

Neighborhood Walks

I had to work a little late tonight so when I finally got home, Chris and I decided to walk the neighborhood (I worked out at lunch, so this was a leisure walk). Our mission for the walk, besides enjoying the nice weather and company, was to see this new construction a few blocks away we are hoping to move in to late summer. It is moving along nice and slow...perfect schedule since I have a current lease until end of July. On our short two block walk back we stopped to to talk to several people. Some we had not seen for a while (Dave), some we have seen recently (Brittney) and some we see every day (Rick). I love my neighborhood!
